NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Knicks guard Baron Davis was carted off the court on a stretcher with what appeared to be a severe knee injury in the third quarter Sunday against the Miami Heat.

It was later confirmed that Davis suffered a dislocated kneecap according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News.

Davis was driving up the court for a potential go-ahead basket when his right leg buckled and he fell to the court with 5:15 left. Concerned teammates quickly waved for help as Davis remained on the floor.

He pointed at the crowd as he was wheeled off the court.  Knicks fans gave him a loud ovation as he went through the Madison Square Garden tunnel.

Davis has battled injuries all season, becomes the latest Knicks guard lost to an unfortunate injury. It has almost been as if someone placed a voodoo curse over Knicks guards this season.

Jeremy Lin is still out after knee surgery and Iman Shumpert was lost for the season with a torn ACL in Game 1.

“It’s been a rough year on our team as far as injuries,” Knicks interim coach Mike Woodson said in a televised interview after the third quarter. “He’s got a tough injury on his hands. I don’t know how bad it is, but hopefully he’ll have a speedy recovery.”

Already, fans are speculating whether this could be a career-ending injury for Davis who worked hard to be able to play this season.  Over recent years, Davis has dealt with a myriad of injuries.  This might be the end for the 33-year-old veteran.
